One of my returning customers recently approached me with some last minute work, we'd discussed this particular piece of work a few months back and he had only just received the sizes that he needed for the print design. I have managed to create a quick turnaround of the design which is in-keeping with the rest of his brand.
The design is a small magazine advertisement for a local event which is occuring in Ashbourne, the Ashbourne Soap Box Race. Thousands of people are expected to be attending, presumably with copies of this magazine, outlining the events for the day. This local work with Dougie is beneficial to both me and him, me being local allows us to meet up and talk whenever need be about a project, it also draws other local clients, with Dougie himself indirectly bringing me another client from the local area.
This line of work with Dougie and The Last Word cocktail has been beneficial in directly and indirectly providing me with work, and the locality of the work is not only handy through the work, but also allows for shorter lead times on projects, which makes everyone happy!
I recently met with Christine Griffin, after some time being held up by either one of us being away, we set a date and had a meeting. We then went over the design proposals I had given for her stationery and the basis for her website. She was really happy with the design proposals and only requested one change to the letterhead, which was good. I hope that we can get this project wrapped up and completed by the end of this month!
I have also taken on a new client, a mobile event catering company based in Derby. I was approached with the task of creating a new identity for the company, as they weren't keen on their existing one and felt it didn't portray their professionalism or them being up-to-date with the latest trends and needs of consumers. I've been working on some design proposals for them and so far I've come up with a very strong identity which I think would be perfect for their business. It's different to what I usually do in terms of design but feel as though it's a step in the right direction for my own creative work as well as for the company's image.
